Victories over Laporte, Greenway push Eagles record to 9-2

The Eagles boys' basketball team keeps piling up victories with their latest wins coming against Laporte and Greenway. Last Thursday, the Eagles produced a convincing 65-33 victory over the Wildcats in a game that they jumped out to an early lead and were never threatened the rest of the way.

"Coming in, we knew we were a more talented team, but that Laporte would play hard. Our kids matched their intensity and we came away with a win" said coach Chris Carlson.

Harris Carlson had 15 points and led on the boards with seven, Alec Wake had 15 points and four steals.

On Monday, the Greenway Raiders came to town. The team from section 7AA has had their way with the Eagles the past few years, but graduations to a few key players for the Raiders and a fast-improving Eagles team made this year feel different - and it was.

The Eagles again jumped out to an early lead and held it throughout the game that ended 82-57 in favor of the home team. The Eagles had strong efforts from a host of players including 20 from Alec Wake, 19 from Nolan Carlson, 16 from Carson Johnson and 11 each from Harris Carlson and Nathan Johnson. Nathan Johnson had nine rebounds to lead the way on the boards and Alec Wake dished out six assists.

The Eagles have two key section games coming up against Lakeview and Southridge.[[In-content Ad]]
