Another basketball season has concluded and along with it so did the high school basketball careers of three Northland Eagles, Justin Wicks, Jarod Stefan and Marcus Woods. While each would have loved to have had more success in terms of victories over their careers, each has enjoyed playing the game and being an Eagle.

Some tidbits you may not know about the boys:

Marcus enjoys a pre-game meal of pizza, while Justin and Jarod don't "really have one", but I do know that their favorite post-game meal is anything on the McDonald's menu.

Jarod's favorite movie is Bad Grandpa, while Justin's favorite movie is The Sandlot. Marcus just likes to leave the TV on ESPN- all sports 24 hours a day.

On their Most Memorable moment, Jarod noted winning the Sebeka Christmas Tournament, Justin and Marcus added that stepping onto the court wearing their Eagle uniform and just playing the game was memorable.

Asked if there was any part of their game they could will to an underclassmen. Justin willed his ability to hit mid-range jumpers, all day, to Michael Johnson. Marcus willed his ability to look good in the #1 jersey and to play well in all sports to Zach Greene. Jarod did not know what he could will but I will give any of his good intensity to any and all underclassmen.

Who do you admire the most and why? Marcus- My grandpa, Guy Greene , because of his will, determination and experience in life. Justin answered, his dad, for always being a great father and motivating him to do better.

About what they will miss the most was summed up by simply, playing the game with their teammates and representing the Eagles. The least- RUNNING.

Plans for after high school include going to St. Cloud Technical College for Marcus. Justin will be headed to Hibbing Community College for Law Enforcement, while Jarod plans on hunting and working through the fall and see where that leads him.

Coach Chris Carlson was able to coach these boys their final two seasons and commented: "I would like to thank my three Seniors this year for a memorable basketball season. Justin Wicks, Jarod Stefan and Marcus Woods brought a lot of leadership, passion and effort into this year's team. I am proud of the growth I saw in each one of these Seniors as the season went on.

As one of my captains, Justin displayed leadership in many ways. I could always count on him to be a spokesman for the team both on and off the court. Justin worked hard whenever he took the floor in both games and practice, setting an example for the rest of the team. Thank you Justin for all the jumpers from the elbow, they will be missed.

Our other captain, Jarod brought an intensity to this team with his hustle and energy in games and also by keeping his team focused in practices. His unselfishness and never quit attitude inspired all of us to give 100% no matter what. Thank you Jarod for all the effort and heart you brought to every game.

Marcus was an extremely pivotal player for the team this year, his versatility and athleticism allowed Marcus to be affective in many ways this season. From running point to banging down low, Marcus was willing to play anywhere and guard anyone at any time. Thank you Marcus for all the hustle and fire you brought with you to the court this year."

The boys would like to thank their parents, coaches, teachers, classmates and fans for all the support throughout their careers. Best of luck to these young men as they head into the final few months of high school and prepare for their future endeavors.
