Hunters who applied for a spring wild turkey hunting license for time periods A or B but were not selected in the recent lottery are eligible to purchase a surplus license on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, March 7. A total of 1,188 surplus licenses are available.

People who did not participate in the lottery may purchase any remaining surplus licenses starting noon on Wednesday, March 9, when all remaining licenses become available. Unlimited over-the-counter licenses for time periods C-F also go on sale March 9.

Surplus licenses will be available at any license agent or online at www.mndnr.gov/buyalicense. Surplus licenses cannot be purchased by phone.

Hunters should review changes to the spring turkey hunting season this year. Changes make some turkey hunting time periods longer, all include weekends, and time period F will be open to any licensed turkey hunter who has not bagged a turkey in an earlier time period.
