Storm fall to Timberwolves in Homecoming battle

The Hill City/Northland Storm hosted the fifth ranked Ely Timberwolves in Remer's Homecoming matchup. The Timberwolves entered the game with a 4-0 record and quickly showed why they are one of the premier nine-man football teams in the state. Taking control of the game early, Ely scored on their opening play from scrimmage on their way to a 62-8 victory over the Storm.

Ely rushed to a first quarter 20-0 lead and never looked back. The Storm was able to move the ball on their second possession, rushing for three first downs before giving up a fumble. The Timberwolves added a pair of TD's before halftime for a 34-0 lead.

The Storm came out of the locker room and on their second possession of the half, James Kuhlman caught a pass from Cooper Kovall for 60 yards and the touchdown. Kovall added the two-point conversion taking the score to 42-8. The reserves took over for the remainder of the game, giving up two touchdowns.

There were good individual performances for the Storm but they were simply overwhelmed by a strong Ely program. The Timberwolves have won 17 of their last 18 games with their only loss in the last two years coming in last season's state semi-finals. During that stretch they have out-scored their opponents 753-88.[[In-content Ad]]
