Mick was born Aug. 2, 1946 to Lionel and Ann (McGrath) Wheeler, in Wabasha, Minn. He went to high school in Longville. In 1963 he enlisted in the U.S, Navy. He served until 1969, when he returned to Minnesota to begin his life-long career in carpentry. He was with Custom Drywall for 34 years, until his retirement.
Mick worked hard, and played harder. He spent every weekend gathering with family and friends playing guitar, a variety of musical instruments and singing. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, hunting, fishing, boating and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by: his daughters, Mandi Carlson, Blaine, Minn., Teonna (Ryan) Pound, Kari Wheeler, and Kelsey Wheeler all of Remer, Minn.; siblings, Gary Wheeler, of Longville; Patty (Tom) Anderson, Ketchum, Idaho; Ellen (Bob) Mieseler, Of Longville; Randy (Liz) Wheeler, Remer, Minn., Leonard (Vicki) Wheeler, Of Seattle, Wash., Eileen Wheeler, Of Longville, Tim Wheeler, Of Lake Elmo, Minn. And Lori (Randy) Benson, Ramsey, Minn.; grandchildren, Austin, Dreydon, Brooke, Carsen, Rydel, and Kaylena. Aunts, uncle, many nieces nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sharon Olson, Kathleen Opatrny; brother-in-law, Doug Olson; niece, Darcy Wheeler; nephew James Mesich.
A memorial gathering of family and friends was held at Dennis Funeral Home in Longville. Military Honors were provided by VFW Post 772.
Dennis Funeral Home of Walker, Longville and Cass Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
Robert Lewis Newman, Sr.

COON RAPIDS - Robert Newman, 88, of Coon Rapids, Minn., passed away January 30, 2012 at his home.
He married Bess Seberg in 1945. In 1948, together with Bess' sister and husband, built and operated Norway Ridge Resort and Supper Club on Kimbal Lake, at Pequot Lakes, Minn. They had the business for many years and it's still in business today.
Robert retired from over-the-road truck driving
in 1985. Robert loved fishing, hunting, carving, reading and laughing with friends and family at their cabin of 45 years on Kego Lake in Longville.
Robert is survived by his wife, Bess; Son, Robert Jr.; daughter, Holly Newman-Lind; son-in-law, Michael Lind and grandson, Mikko Robert Lind.[[In-content Ad]]
