Jerry Wilmes, age 94, of Remer passed away peacefully on July 26, 2017.

He was born in Mankato to Nickolas and Clara Wilmes, growing up to serve in the U.S. Army WWII. Some of his favorite hobbies included roller skated, raced cars and snowmobiles. Jerry loved to waterski, fish and hunt; he truly loved his lake home and his friends there. He served on the Thunder Lake Town Board.

He is survived by one son, Gerald Wilmes, Jr. and his special friend Cindy Doroff, of Brainerd; two daughters, Darcy (Dan) Tonga, of Federal Dam, Gloria Fiske, of Grants Pass, OR; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gretchen, one son and one daughter.
