Eagles win one, drop two in recent play
The Eagles jumped out early using full court pressure to generate some easy offense. Northland's three starting guards combined for 15 steals and made it tough on Ogilvie all night, paving the way for an 89-59 victory to get the Eagles back on the winning track. Harris Carlson led the way with 22 points and added six steals and six rebounds. Cameron Wake also had a strong all around game with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and five steals. Other Eagles in double figures included Alec Wake with 14, Carson Johnson with 12, and Kane Perkins with 10.
Next the Eagles hosted a very talented Greenway Raider team that features two of the area's top players in Dylan Dechampeau and Jace Hansen-Cochran. One of the top teams in Class 2A, the Raiders proved to be too much for the Eagles, winning by a score of 73-34.
Coach Chris Carlson said that, "their two big guys were too much for us to handle, but our kids played hard. They will both be playing at the next level."
The Eagles were led in scoring by Perkins with 13. Cameron Wake was the only other Eagle in double figures with 10. He also added six rebounds to lead the team in that category.
On Friday the Eagles were again faced with another strong team as the Deer River Warriors made the journey down to Remer. The Warriors brought in a very experienced team that includes two 1000 point scorers in Noah Williams and Kyle Shevich. The Eagles played a solid first half, cutting the lead to five with three minutes to go, but a run by the Warriors as the half ended stretched the lead to 11. The game stayed within 15 for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but Deer River's size and depth were too much as they pulled away to an 80-53 victory.
"The game was much closer than the final score showed. I felt our boys really competed for most of the night," commented coach Carlson.
Cameron Wake Led the way with 15 points and seven rebounds. Perkins added 11 points and Harris Carlson tossed in nine.
The Eagle's schedule really picks up in February as several of the games postponed due to weather will now take place in the last month of the season.[[In-content Ad]]
