LACF launches 2025 membership and fund raising drive
The Longville Area Community Foundation (LACF) is beginning this year’s membership drive. Yearly membership runs from July 1 to June 31. A donation of $50.00 confirms a one year, family membership. Additional donation, sponsorship and endowment contributions are also welcome at this time.
Hunters urged not to shoot ear-tagged, radio-collared research bears
The Minnesota bear hunting season opens Tuesday, Sept. 1, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is asking hunters to avoid shooting marked research bears. These bears have large, colorful ear tags and wear radio collars.

Concerned residents seek review of Boy River RAR
Residents along the Woman Lake Chain are concerned that water levels are reaching historic lows following the installation of a new rock arch rapids (RAR) on the Boy River. The structure was built to replace the former dam while allowing fish passage between the lakes.
