Cass board facing numerous retirements in 2016

WALKER - Several top Cass County government personnel, including the administrator, have announced plans to retire in 2016.

Reserve funds targeted to pay some 2016 expenses

WALKER - To lower the 2016 property tax increase, the Cass County Citizen Budget Committee now recommends the county board use some of the county's reserve fund balance to pay for some 2016 expenses.

Sales tax considered for road maintenance

WALKER - Cass County has reached the point where not enough money is coming into the county to keep up with costs to maintain the roads, so County Engineer David Enblom has proposed using a state-allowed option for a half a cent county sales tax.

County earns more than expected on investments

BACKUS-Cass County earned 9 percent more interest on investments during 2015 than the budget anticipated, Auditor-Treasurer Sharon Anderson reported Tuesday. The county earned $977,057.39, while the budget expected earnings to be $900,000. Earnings also exceeded 2014 earnings of $867,340.26.
