   It turns out you don’t need 177 contestants to put the dock under water, 109 contestants were sufficient to do it this week.  And the fish were really biting with an average of 4 fish per contestant.  As per usual, 50% of those fish were caught by a handful of youth, they must have a secret to their skill.

   The sun was out, and it was a pleasantly hot day. Everyone had a lot of fun, fishing, yelling and encouraging their racing minnow, casting into the targets, face paintings, eating hot dogs, etc.  It was just a beautiful day to be outdoors.

Kids fishing contest ages 0-5

At the Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest Tuesday, July 9, 30 kids in the 0-5 year old group, caught and released 52 fish. Zayne N. caught the largest fish (12.8 oz.); Jensen D. reeled in the first fish; Doug M. landed the most fish (13); and Livia N. hooked the smallest fish (4 inches).

   The hot dog sponsor this week was Hackensack Chamber of Commerce (http://www.hackensackchamber.com/). Thank you for handling so many hot dogs this week.

Kids fishing contest ages 6-9

At the July 9 Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest, 38 kids in the 6-9 year old group, caught and released 187 fish. Fletcher S. caught the largest fish (10.4 oz.); Hannah G. reeled in the first fish; Rick R. landed the most fish (49); and the smallest fish was hooked by Erik L. (3 1/2 inches) .

   The dates for this year are every Tuesday, June 11th – August 13th, 2024 from 11am - 12:30pm. Be early to register before it starts. We look forward to seeing everyone that can make it.

Kids fishing contest ages 10-15

In the 10-15 year old group, Tuesday, July 9, 41 kids caught and released 201 fish. Jeremiah C. hooked the largest fish (14.3 oz.); the first fish was caught by Geena L.; Blake C. caught the most fish (53) and the smallest fish (2 1/4 inches) was landed by Graham C.
