She was born February 5, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois to Anton and Mae (Karas) Kolar. Eleanore married Oliver Mejdrich on July 31, 1937 and moved to northern Minnesota in 1945. They had four children: Susan (Roger) Sundberg of Swatara, Terry (Darlene) Mejdrich of Swatara, MN, Sandra (Larry) Hanken of Hibbing, MN and Gene (Pam) of Aitkin, MN.
Eleanore was a township treasurer, election judge, 4H leader, and longtime member of the Remer Arts and Crafts Club. She was an expert with a needle; her crocheted doilies are works of art. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Eleanore was widely known for her fresh-baked bread and pastry.
Eleanore's love and passion was always her husband and family. Her spirit of generosity, positive nature, warmth and acceptance of others, and resourcefulness were freely shared with all who had the good fortune to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Helen and brother Tony.
Eleanore is survived by her children and their spouses, twelve grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. She was delighted to have recently learned that another great-grandchild and her first great-great grandchild are on the way.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 17th from 10 am until the 11 am Celebration of Life Service at Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, MN. Pastor Gerard Valley will officiate. Final resting place will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Smokey Hollow Township, Minnesota.
