Bettie was born October 16, 1927, in South St. Paul, the daughter of John and Hjardis (Andersen) Tucker. Following her graduation from Humboldt High School, Bettie worked at St. Paul Companies where she met Gilbert Grossman. Bettie and Gib were united in marriage on October 23, 1948. The couple lived in St. Paul, Scandia, and on Lake Inguadona before retiring to Baxter. Returning to school and earning her CNA certification, as well as winning a hotly contested election to become the first woman supervisor of the Trelipe Township Board near Remer and Longville, were two of her proudest moments that spoke of her fire. Bettie enjoyed the outdoors - fishing, gardening, and camping. She also liked to dance, read and bowl. She was active in church organizations and as a Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader. Her pet dogs were very important to her. Bettie loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Bettie will be missed by her husband, Gib; her children, Jim (Priscilla) Grossman, of Crosslake, Patti (Joe) Cloutier, of Baxter, and Christine Grossman, of Baxter; sister, Jeanne Tucker, of Denver; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
