Little did we know on the morning of January 2, 2012 God was going to call Dad home. It breaks our hearts to lose him however, he has not gone alone. A part of us has gone with him. Dad has left us with peaceful memories and though we cannot be with him, he will always be in our hearts. Dad slipped away peacefully in his sleep. We are all saddened by our loss however he is now in a paradise, where there will be no sorrow, nor pain, only peace and joy. He is now flying with the Angels.

John was born March 21, 1930 in Milford, Iowa to the late Albert John Nicol, Sr., and Anna Mary Nicol. John served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to1971 retiring with the rank of Major. During his career, he flew combat missions in C-119, C-124 and C.-141 aircraft, during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Following retirement John and family resided in Remer, Minn., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dover, Del.

John will be interned at Arlington National Cemetery VA., with Full Military Honors on March 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. We welcome family and friends to attend. Arlington requests all guests should arrive at the cemetery Administration Building one half hour prior to the scheduled service time.

In addition to his wife Kathleen; John is survived by his children, Vicki Nicol, Doug Nicol, Shari Trovinger, son-in-law Todd Trovinger and grandchildren, Shawn Nicol, Christina Trovinger, Jonathan Nicol and Lauren Nicol.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association.[[In-content Ad]]
