On September 25, the Northland Eagles Varsity Football Team traveled to Nevis where they were defeated 48 to 8. The coaches commented by saying it was obviously a game that the team and the coaches would like to re-play. Nevis is a very talented football team.
The 2015-16 Northland boys basketball season began with the Eagles hosting Blackduck. The boys started out a bit slow in the first half only scoring 19 and trailing by four.
The evening of December 15 found the Northland Lady Eagles hosting Laprote and looking to put an entire game together on both ends of the court and notch a 'W' in the win column.
The boys returned to the hardwood on Jan. 2 after a long holiday break to host the Vikings from Littlefork/Big Falls. The boys were anxious to knock off the rust and play ball.
The Lady Eagles were riding high after a big win over Greenway a week ago and the team was feeling good about their consistency on both ends of the court.
Despite the final score, the Northland Lady Eagles played a tough game against the Warriors from Deer River. The return of Maddy Shepard from injury was not enough to elevate the team to victory and the girls would fall 50-64.
There were new faces along the sidelines as the The Hill City/Northland Storm took to the field behind first-year veteran Head Coach Gary Graham. With the consolidation of the Eagles and Hornets, Coach Graham has molded a formidable team that opened their season against the Mcgregor Mercs on Sept. 2.
