Medical Examiner reports 97 Cass County deaths in 2012

WALKER - Michael McGee, contracting medical examiner for Cass County, reported 97 deaths in the county during 2012. He accepted 56 cases and released with a private physician responsible for signing the death certificate 41 of those deaths.

Calls to Cass County Sheriff's Office slightly up for 2012, response time down

BACKUS - Cass County Sheriff's Office received 18,812 calls for service in 2012, according to Sheriff Tom Burch's annual report. That is an 8 percent increase over 2011. It includes calls for the sheriff's deputies, city police and fire departments and ambulance services.
