   Local non-profit Happy Dancing Turtle is hosting a free fix it event for household items from 9am to noon on Saturday, September 26 at Happy Dancing Turtle, 2331 Dancing Wind Rd SW in Pine River. Volunteers will provide hands-on help to participants with troubleshooting, taking items apart, sewing/mending, or other types of repair. 

   Items that volunteers may be able to repair include the most popular items at other fixit events: fans, toasters, and lamps. Other small appliances and small wooden furniture are welcome. No computer/tablet or phone type repairs will be available. Clothing and mending may include button reattachment/replacement, patching holes and small snag repairs of sweaters. Household textiles like drapes and tablecloths are also welcome. “It’s a fun way to share useful repair skills, prevent items from being thrown away, connect with others in the community, and save money!” said Jenny Hill, one of the organizers.

   People bringing items for repair must be able to load/unload them from their vehicle. Based on response, a two-item limit per household may be set. People bringing items for repair are advised that while repairers make their best effort, a repair is not guaranteed and those participating will sign a waiver.
