   Pine River will step back in time during its annual Heritage Days celebration Sept. 11 to 13 at Forbes Park and surrounding community locations. The weekend event offers visitors a glimpse of 1830s life through historical demonstrations, local food, and activities.

   Festivities launch Friday, Sept. 11, with free tours of the Historic 1895 Train Depot from 2 to 5 p.m., while a Farmers & Crafters Market runs from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

   The highlight of the weekend is the historic pre-1840s buckskinner and fur-trader encampment at Forbes Park, featuring teepees and live demonstrations. The encampment is free to attend and open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

   Saturday’s lineup includes the final Friends of the Library Book Sale of the season on a free-will pricing basis from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a free traditional Settler’s Stew served at Forbes Park at noon. Later in the afternoon, the Harvest Fest will take place at Balsam Moon Preserve from 2 to 7 p.m.

   Sunday begins with an American Legion Auxiliary Breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon, alongside the continuation of the Friends of the Library Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Pine River Library will also host its annual “Pie in the Park” fundraiser starting at 10 a.m.

   Heritage Days events are open to the public.
