Hill City-Northland Storm volleyball team crowned tournament champions

   The 2026 Hill City Northland Storm Volleyball Team was crowned Tournament Champion at its home tournament on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

   The tournament began with an exciting matchup between the Hill City Northland (HCN) Storm and the Northome/Kelliher Mustangs. The Mustangs came out strong, winning the first set 25–16. However, the Storm quickly regrouped. Co-Captain Taylor Washburn sparked the team with an impressive serving streak of 13 points as HCN dominated the second set, 25–10. The Storm continued to battle in the deciding third set, earning a 15–11 victory and advancing to the next round.

   In another first-round matchup, the Laporte Wildcats defeated the Littlefork-Big Falls Vikings in two sets.

   The match between the Silver Bay Mariners and the Ogilvie Lions was an exciting back-and-forth battle that went the full three sets. Ogilvie narrowly won the first set 32–30, but Silver Bay responded with a 25–22 victory in the second set. The Mariners came out on top again in the deciding set, winning 15–12. It was an exciting and fun match for fans to watch.

   The East Central Eagles received a bye in the first round after another scheduled team did not attend the tournament.

   In the second round, the Hill City Northland Storm faced the Laporte Wildcats. The Storm continued their strong play, winning in two sets, 25–19 and 25–21. The Silver Bay Mariners also advanced to the championship match with a two-set victory over the East Central Eagles.

   The championship match between Hill City Northland and Silver Bay was an exciting battle that went to three sets. Silver Bay won the opening set 25–21, but the Storm refused to give up. Playing with tremendous heart, hustle, and determination, HCN fought back to win the second set 25–23.

   The deciding third set was a true nail-biter. Both teams battled point for point, but the Storm came out on top with a thrilling 21–19 victory, securing the championship on their home court.

   The Hill City Northland Storm players showed great teamwork, determination, and resilience throughout the day. Their hard work and never-give-up attitude earned them the title of 2026 Home Tournament Champions.

   The Storm girls, and coaching staff appreciate all the Parents and Fans that helped make the tournament possible.
