Come and discover stillness at St. Agnes and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Life is busy. Work, family, errands, activities — one responsibility leads to the next, and the days fill up fast. In the middle of all that important busyness, there is still a quiet invitation waiting: to stop, even for a moment, and be still.
Have you ever wondered if God is calling you to slow down and come closer to Him? Do you have questions about faith, about God, or about where you belong on your journey? Wondered about your purpose in life?
Perhaps the answers begin in the quiet.
Being still doesn’t mean doing nothing. It means making room — room to open your heart to God, to remember that you are loved, and to listen for what He might be saying.
This fall, the Catholic Parishes of St. Agnes in Walker and Sacred Heart in Hackensack are offering OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) — a class, yes, but one built for exactly this kind of stillness. It is not another obligation added to a full life; it is a set-apart time each week to step out of the noise with purpose. Anyone curious about Catholicism, wrestling with questions about Christianity, or simply wanting to deepen their faith is welcome, no matter where they’re starting from.
Classes meet every Wednesday, November 4 through March 17, from 5:30–7:15 p.m., with a free dinner served each evening.
There is no pressure and no obligation to become Catholic during OCIA. This is a place to ask honest questions, meet others on the same road, and explore where God may be leading you — without performance, without deadlines. For those who do feel called to enter the Church, the OCIA journey leads to the Sacraments at Easter.
So in the midst of a busy life, consider carving out a little room for stillness.
Come. Listen. Learn. Discover.
Perhaps in the quiet, it will become clear that God has been calling all along.
