Local non-profit Happy Dancing Turtle is hosting a swap featuring garden supplies, tools & equipment from 9am to noon on Saturday, October 17 at the Happy Dancing Turtle office on the Hunt Utilities Group Resilient Living Campus, 2331 Dancing Wind Rd SW in Pine River.

“We want to help new gardeners get growing and help established gardeners keep growing. As a new gardener, maybe you don’t want to invest a lot of money until you know what you need,” said Jenny Hill, HDT staff and one of the organizers. “Maybe as you are putting away your tools for the season, you realize you have an extra set of clippers or garden art you are ready to pass along. Let’s reuse what we no longer want and reduce trash.”

At this no-cost event, participants may take items for free. You do not need to drop off items in order to take other items. Be aware the swap is intended for individuals and families—no resellers, please. Gently used items will be accepted from noon to 6pm on Thursday, October 15 and 8am to noon on Friday, October 16. Examples of items accepted in good working order include hand tools, seed-starting supplies, pots, gnomes, edging, small fencing, hoses, gloves, hats, boots, natural soil amendments in original containers, garden books—and more! Visit https://www.happydancingturtle.org/events/garden-supplies-swap for a full list of items that will be accepted and not accepted. If you have questions about the event, please contact Jenny Hill at [email protected] or 218-587-2303.
