   100 Women Who Care of the Leech Lake area, held the fall giving event Monday October 5, at Tianna Country Club with the Tianna staff hosting and delivering some amazing appetizers once again that we all enjoyed! So many wonderful caring women gathered to enjoy fellowship with other women and to be part of this giving event to support a non-profit agency in the Leech Lake area. In this one hour, the women attending (as well as those unable to attend who sent their $100 or more in to be counted), raised $7,000 for the nonprofit The Family Safety Network in Walker. They were selected from the three nominations which were randomly picked out of all the nominations and then voted on by all the women in attendance. The other nominees randomly picked at this event were Lake May Center and the Federal Dam Fire Department. 

   This $107,000 has happened because Leech Lake Area women have shown up and donated over the past four years. The first event was in December of 2022 with over 125 women attending! The number though is more than dollars, it represents lives touched, needs met, and neighbors helping neighbors. Because of the generous donations, 100 Women have supported the ARCC Women’s Shelter, the Walker Area Food Shelf, the Door, the WACC, the Dale and Harriet Jones Library, Faith in Action, the Walker Volunteer Fire Department and now the Family Safety Network. These organizations are doing work that truly matters! Next June we will be holding a special 10th Giving Event! This event will be held on Monday, June 7, 2027, at Tianna Country Club where delicious appetizers will be provided for all as well as a cash bar along with a lot of fun and great conversation. Please consider joining this fun group and BRING A NEIGHBOR, FRIEND, RELATIVE to join in the 10th GIVING EVENT next June. Together we are proving that the Leech Lake Area isn’t just a place on the map…it’s a community with a big heart, a giving spirit and neighbors who show up for one another. Also please note that our Leech Lake 100 Women events have inspired groups to form in Nevis, Bemidji, Grand Rapids and even Becker, MN! You won’t want to miss this opportunity to make a difference in the Leech Lake community and its non-profits.
