   The Cass County Museum will host “Butterflies of the North Woods” on Friday, June 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the museum’s research room, located at 205 Minnesota Ave. W. in Walker.

   The free program will be presented by Allison Barta, who has spent the past 15 years studying and photographing butterflies throughout the Northwoods. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about local butterfly species, their habitats and the important role they play in the region’s ecosystem.

   Copies of Barta’s butterfly books will also be available for purchase at a discounted price of $9 each, reduced from the regular price of $18.

   The event is free and open to the public.
