   The Countryside Food Cooperative in Hackensack has expanded its summer schedule and is now open Mondays from 1 to 5 p.m. through Aug. 31.

   The member-owned, volunteer-run cooperative also maintains its regular summer hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

   While many residents know the co-op as a source for natural foods, bulk products and locally focused shopping, its impact extends well beyond the store’s shelves.

   Countryside Co-op provides significant support to five local food shelves through donations that total between $20,000 and $25,000 annually. The cooperative also contributes to a variety of local organizations and community initiatives throughout the year.

   Operated largely through volunteer efforts, the cooperative emphasizes community involvement and local support as part of its mission, making it both a grocery resource and a community partner for the Hackensack area.
