   Get ready for an evening of great food, community spirit, and support for one of Minnesota’s most beloved summer traditions — the Hackensack Children’s Fishing Contest!

   Did you know this treasured event is the largest youth fishing contest in Minnesota? Every Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., kids gather at the downtown Hackensack fishing pier for a fun-filled catch-and-release adventure that has been creating memories since 1997.

   The contest was founded by Robert “Bob” Kennedy, whose vision was simple but powerful: create something special for kids to enjoy during the summer. Today, his son, Mayor Bill Kennedy, proudly carries on that tradition, helping grow the contest into one of Hackensack’s most anticipated weekly events. Families travel from across Minnesota — and even from other states and countries — to experience the excitement, laughter, and joy this event brings to young anglers every summer.

   The Union Congregational Church is proud to continue its tradition of hosting monthly community benefit meals that bring people together while supporting meaningful local causes. This month’s free-will offering dinner will directly benefit the Children’s Fishing Contest and help continue this wonderful community tradition for years to come.

   Guests will enjoy a delicious homemade meal featuring:

   • BBQ Pulled Pork 

   • Creamy Mac and Cheese 

   • Coleslaw 

   • Homemade desserts prepared by Tammy Lindberg 

   Join us on Wednesday, June 3, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. at Union Congregational Church, 401 Lake Avenue in Hackensack, for an evening filled with great food, warm fellowship, and community support.
