   Local non-profit Happy Dancing Turtle is seeking volunteer fixers, menders, and carpenters, as well as folks who just like to tinker or help with events. People interested in volunteering would be part of future no-cost fix it events to be hosted in Pine River beginning Fall 2026. Volunteers could provide hands-on help to participants with: troubleshooting, taking items apart, sewing, or other types of repair. 

   “It’s a fun way to share useful repair skills, prevent items from being thrown away, connect with others in your community, and save money!” said Jenny Hill, HDT staffer and one of the organizers for fix it events.

   At the fix it events, people bringing items for repair will be advised that while repairers make their best effort, a repair is not guaranteed and those participating will sign a liability waiver. Repair volunteers will be welcome to bring their own tools/supplies though it is not required.
