Longville Area Community Garden seeks support for nature trail project
The Longville Area Community Garden is seeking community support as it continues fundraising efforts for improvements to its popular Nature Trail.
The trail, located on the grounds of the Longville Area Community Garden at 4742 County Road 54 NE, provides a safe and scenic place for residents and visitors to walk, run, and enjoy the outdoors. Organizers say the project has become increasingly important as community members have expressed a desire for more accessible walking opportunities in the Longville area.
One of the primary goals of the fundraising campaign is to improve the trail surface, making it more accessible for people of all abilities, including wheelchair users, walkers, runners, families with strollers, and pet owners. The trail is designed to offer a safe outdoor recreation option while allowing visitors to experience the area’s natural beauty.
According to garden volunteers, Longville currently lacks dedicated walking and biking paths, making the Nature Trail a valuable community asset. In addition to providing a place for exercise and relaxation, the trail offers opportunities for environmental education and a deeper appreciation of local wildlife and native plants.
The project is being led by the Longville Area Community Garden, a nonprofit organization supported by Wabedo Township and the Longville Lions. The organization promotes healthy living, sustainability, and community involvement through its garden programs and outdoor recreation opportunities.
Fundraising efforts will help support trail improvements, educational signage, benches, native plantings, and other enhancements designed to make the trail more welcoming and accessible for all visitors.
Organizers emphasize that every donation, regardless of size, will help move the project forward and create a lasting benefit for the community.
