Joan (Joanie) Margaret Edlund

b. 1954 d. May 16, 2026

Joan (Joanie) Margaret Edlund passed away in Edina, Minnesota, on May 16th, in comfort and peace. She was 72. She is preceded in death by her father Marvin, mother Elizabeth and brothers Merle and Mark. She is survived by her brother Bruce (Sandy), sisters Carol Bucko & Lois Shaw, eight nieces and nephews and countless relatives and friends.

Joan was born in Minneapolis on a snowy day in 1954, the fourth of six children. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1972. In her mid 20s she began working at Boulay in Eden Prairie. She was a dedicated accounting assistant with the tax firm for 48 years until she retired.

Joan had a passion for baking, carrot cake was her favorite. A life-long resident of South Minneapolis, she cared for a garden every summer in the backyard of her home. Her family will plant it in her honor this year. But, her greatest love was the cabin on Thunder Lake in Remer, Minnesota. She spent many summers fishing and swimming, deer hunting in autumn and snowmobiling in winter. She was a nature enthusiast who loved picking wild berries and would never tire of the sight of an eagle or the call of a loon. She also cherished feeding and watching hummingbirds.

Services will be held at a later date this summer. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite nature conservation. Joan was very independent, but she truly did love people. She will be remembered for her great conversation and incredible laugh.
