Highway 6 construction between Outing and Remer begins Aug. 3

Construction on Highway 6 between Outing and Remer is scheduled to begin Aug. 3, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).

The project includes resurfacing and other roadway improvements on a 17-mile stretch of Highway 6 from the Roosevelt Lake Bridge, just north of Cass County Road 58 in Outing, to Highway 200 in Remer.

Motorists should expect single-lane traffic controlled by flaggers and a pilot car throughout construction. Beginning Aug. 3, Highway 6 will be closed for up to 12 calendar days while crews replace underground drainage pipes at mileposts 39, 40 and 55.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured via Cass County Road 1 through Emily, Cass County Road 3 (Grove Street), Highway 169 through Waukenabo and Highway 200 through Hill City before returning to Highway 6 in Remer.

Project work includes resurfacing the roadway, shoulders and turn lanes; replacing or repairing drainage pipes and ditches; realigning and improving access at Cass County Road 7; upgrading guardrails, including at the Roosevelt Lake Bridge; and installing new pavement markings and rumble strips.

For more information about the project, visit the Minnesota Department of Transportation website at www.dot.state.mn.us.
