   The Crooked Lake Township Lakes and Shores Committee together with Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Army Corps of Engineers will once again be hosting a Get The Lead Out competition at the Lakers Lions annual Corn Feed; Saturday, August 15 at the Pickled Loon Saloon in Emily, MN from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

   Grand prize for the most lead tackle brought in is a Minn Kota Endura Trolling Motor and second prize will be 18 Holes of Golf for Four at Emily Greens Golf Course. Additionally, everyone who turns in a minimum of 2.0 ounces of lead qualifies for general raffle prizes of $50.00 gift certificates donated by the Deer Haven on Thunder, Pickled Loon Saloon, Red Pine Cookhouse and the Village Inn.

   Members of two area lake associations, RALALA (Roosevelt And Lawrence Area Lakes Association) and LWA (Lake Washburn Association) along with support from Crooked Lake Township and the Cass County AIS team will be available to increase awareness about AIS and water safety for kids.

   Gift bags from the Army Corps of Engineers will have a variety of educational items for kids including frisbees, stickers, magnets and sunglasses. At the booth, kids will also be able to color and create their own custom T-Shirts or totes. Adults can collect information about RALALA and LWA, as well as the Get The Lead Out campaign and other activities to deter aquatic invasive species (AIS) from our area lakes.  

   In 2025, the GTLO campaign by CLT L&S set a mind-blowing state record for lead tackle collected in a single day! 54 pounds and 6 ounces! A massive win for our lakes and a literal life saver for our local loons.  Help keep our waters clean, the wildlife safe, and the records rolling in!
