   Cass County HHVS (Health, Human and Veterans Services) is proud to announce its 2026 School Supply Drive, running from July 6 through September 4. The drive aims to help ensure that children throughout Cass County have the school supplies they need to start the school year prepared and ready to learn.

   Community members are encouraged to donate new school supplies, including backpacks, water bottles, spiral notebooks, #2 Ticonderoga pencils, crayons, colored pencils, washable markers, dry-erase markers, Elmer’s glue and glue sticks, highlighters, scissors, notebooks, folders, notebook paper, headphones, kleenex, disinfecting wipes, composition notebooks, scientific calculators, and other classroom essentials.

   Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

  •  Cass County HHVS – 400 Michigan Ave. W., Walker, MN 56484

  •  Cass County HHVS – 218 Washburn Ave. E., Backus, MN 56435

  •  Arvig Walker Community Center - 105 Tower Ave., Walker, MN  56484

  •  Pine River Family Center – 245 Barclay Ave., Pine River, MN 56474

  •  Northland Area Family Center- 320 Eagle Ave., Remer, MN 56672

   Monetary donations are also welcome and may be made payable to Cass County HHVS (please note School Supplies on the memo line). Please send checks to Cass County HHVS – PO Box 519, Walker, MN 56484 or drop off at any location listed above. 

   Families in need of school supplies are encouraged to sign up for a school supply backpack through the program’s online registration form. Children will receive general school supplies based on their school and grade-level requirements. While the program may not be able to provide every item requested by teachers, every effort will be made to meet students’ needs.

   The program is available to all children residing in Cass County.

   “Every child deserves to begin the school year with the tools they need to succeed,” said Tonya Heldt, Human Services supervisor at Cass County, “This school supply drive is a community effort to support local students and families and help ensure that every child starts the year ready to learn.”
