Smoke will be rising over the Longville Fire Department on Saturday, July 25, as pitmasters compete in the department’s annual BBQ Competition. The event will feature barbecue, live music by Jake Nelson, raffles and family-friendly activities while raising funds to support the volunteer fire department.
The Longville Fire Department is inviting backyard pitmasters, barbecue enthusiasts and the community to gather for its annual BBQ Competition on Saturday, July 25, at the Longville Fire Department.
The fundraiser will feature barbecue competition entries, a family-friendly atmosphere, live music, raffles and food while raising support for the community’s volunteer fire department.
Competition categories include ribs, chicken and pulled pork. Teams may register for a $100 entry fee, with setup beginning at 6 a.m. The event opens to the public at 4 p.m. and judging will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Awards will be presented for first, second and third place, along with a People’s Choice Award.
In addition to sampling award-worthy barbecue, attendees can enjoy live music by Jake Nelson beginning at 7 p.m., along with raffle prizes and other activities throughout the evening.
The competition will be held at the Longville Fire Department, 1350 County Road 5. Organizers encourage residents to come out, support the department’s volunteer firefighters and enjoy an evening of great food and entertainment. The event is also listed in the Longville community events calendar.
