Michael Monroe to perform July 19 Music in the Park
Back by popular demand, Michael Monroe appears in concert Sunday, July 19, 5 p.m., as part of Longville’s Music in the Park summer concert series. He will perform at the gazebo park area at Salem Lutheran Church. This is a free two-hour concert; donations are appreciated.
From vinyl to digital, Minnesota’s Acoustic Music Master, Michael Monroe, is now in his fifth decade of performing nationally in concert, festival, corporate and educational settings. He has travelled many miles since his first paid performance for an audience of 4,000 in Asbury Park, NJ and he recorded his first demo in 1976 in South Blue Hill, Maine at a “chicken coop” studio owned by Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary.
Michael’s unique creation of music leaves his audiences mesmerized as he blends his rich vocals, guitar, bamboo and crystal flutes, combining musical styles of acoustic folk and jazzy reggae. Michael’s original music and compelling energy bring a powerful style that is as much fun as it is innovative music and technology working together powered by creativity, and he recycles his music live on stage as master live looper since 1990. His soulful performance delights and inspires. He is now in his 5th decade of performing nationally in concert, festival, corporate and educational settings. Recycling his award-winning music live using technology powered by creativity, he is “a band in his own mind!” Looping his harmonies on the fly, he creates a rich, multi-layered acoustic sound and performs his original music with tunes by Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot and Simon & Garfunkel.
Bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic lunch to enjoy. In case of rain, the concert will take place inside the church located at 1340 County Road 5, Longville.
The August concert will feature Figuring It Out, a musical family from Bemidji, who perform blue grass and folk music.
Music in the Park is a community outreach activity of Salem Lutheran Church and supported by the Longville Area Community Choir. It is also supported in part with grants from Longville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Longville Area Foundation.
