Memories made at the races
Week 5 of the Longville turtle races delivered exactly what summer in Minnesota is supposed to look like: great weather, smiles and 381 racers!
As always, the day featured plenty of excitement. The crowds enjoyed perfect temperatures, and racers from near and far were prepared for a day of nonstop fun. Families packed the street once again for one of the community’s favorite summer traditions.
Ice cream cones were purchased, people danced in the street, and before long the familiar sounds of cheering children and race announcements filled the air.
Many of this week’s competitors were visiting the area for family vacations, and they were continuing a tradition that spans generations for some families who make the turtle races a must-do stop during their week at the lake.
After the races, as the crowds headed back to surrounding cabins, resorts and campgrounds they could be heard making plans to return next year.
After all, these memories made in Longville last a lifetime!
