   Salem Lutheran Church is hosting their annual “Christmas in July” collection to benefit those in need of hats, mittens and scarves for the winter. For the past few years Salem has hosted this event to extend love, caring and warmth to those in need. The project started several years ago to share these items to our local schools and has expanded to include several homeless shelters, a transition community and an early childhood program. This year we are hoping to expand again to others in our community in need. 

   The project will begin the first week in July and conclude Labor Day Weekend. The need is for homemade, store purchased, or gently used hats, mittens, and scarves. The sizes are for elementary through adult items. The need is also for heavier items for those in shelters but all is excepted and needed. 

   If you would like to help the mission, please drop these items off at Salem Lutheran Church, (1340 County Road 5, Longville) or call the church office (218-363-2011) and other arrangement can be made for pick up. Won’t you consider extending a hand to help others in our community stay warm and surrounded in love?
