Remer’s tenth annual Bigfoot Days July 10 and 11
The legend of Bigfoot has been roaming the Northwoods for nearly 60 years, and since 2016, Remer has proudly embraced its title as the Home of Bigfoot. Whether you’re convinced Sasquatch is lurking in the pines or simply looking for a weekend of family fun, the tenth annual Bigfoot Days promises two days packed with unique events, friendly competition and plenty of Northwoods charm.
The celebration gets underway Friday, July 10, with Bigfoot teams and individuals sharing stories beginning at 5 p.m. at the Pavilion. At 6:30 p.m., competitors can test their skills during the always-entertaining Bigfoot Olympics at the Remer Motel before wrapping up the evening with a Bigfoot Meat Raffle at 6 p.m. at Mill Street Tavern.
Saturday, July 11, begins bright and early with registration opening at 7 a.m. for the annual Bigfoot 5K at the Depot. Participants will hit the course at 9:30 a.m., while those looking for a more relaxed start can enjoy the Bigfoot Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Pavilion.
Throughout the day, visitors can sample signature Bloody Marys and Bigfoot Juice at the Remer Municipal Liquor Store, browse the flea market on the west end of town, or take part in one of the many competitions taking place around town.
One of the weekend’s featured attractions is the Bigfoot BBQ Contest, where pitmasters will compete for cash prizes and bragging rights. Judging begins at 4 p.m., with first place earning $300, second place $200 and third place $100.
Outdoor enthusiasts can also try their hand at the Bigfoot Trap Shoot beginning at 9 a.m. at the City of Remer Trap Range. The 50-round tournament welcomes shooters of all skill levels, with registration opening at 8:30 a.m.
Artists of all ages are invited to take part in the Bigfoot Chalk Art Contest from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Park. Participants will create Bigfoot-inspired sidewalk art in age divisions ranging from children to adults. Judging begins at 2 p.m., with prizes awarded to the top two entries in each age group. Every participant will also receive a s’mores goodie bag.
Families will find plenty to keep busy throughout the afternoon. The Adult Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt begins at 11 a.m. at the Gazebo, followed by live music from Young Country 2.0 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Muni. Children can join the Kids Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt at 12:30 p.m., while basketball players can compete in the annual Bigfoot 3-on-3 Tournament outside Northland School.
