Young At Heart Club ends summer season
At the August 12 turtle races, the YAH Club held the drawing for their 2026 raffle. This year, three prizes were on the ticket. The first prize went to Brian Boeddeker of Longville. His prize was the hand made turkey call donated by Sqeedunk Game Calls. Second prize, which was a propane grill donated by Arrowhead Builders Supply, was won by Jeff Peterson also of Longville. A hand forged trivet, made by YAH Club member Larry Sorensen who runs Larry’s Forge, was won by Mary Guerrero from Roseville. Mary has been coming to their cabin on the SE shore of Leech Lake since 1964, so I guess you could also call her a Longville resident.

Even though all three winners had Longville connections, we want to recognize all the local residents as well as our summer visitors for supporting our fund-raising raffle. Your support of the YAH Club helps us maintain our building and surrounding grounds. Our building is available for various events, so contact us at PO Box 71, Longville, if you would like more information about building rental.
Our other summer events included our four public bingo nights and several bake sales. The community support we received at these events is greatly appreciated. We look forward to next summer and seeing all of you at our events again. Thank you, also, to the Longville Lions Club for letting us “piggy back” on their events and to the Docksider for letting us set up in front of their business and for the use of their tables.
Remember that the Art Crawl is the weekend of September 5-6. On that Saturday, the YAH Club will hold their last bake sale in front of the Docksider. We will have cookies, bars, breads, pies and other goodies. Come check us out!
A final reminder is that the YAH Club plays Hand and Foot on Tuesdays at 11:00, Cribbage on Wednesdays at 1:00 and 500 on Thursdays at 1:00 as well. All games are open to the public, so come check out our facilities and maybe enjoy a game of cards.
