   The Emily, Outing, Fifty Lakes “Lakers Lions” Club will once again host their much-loved Annual Corn Feed on Saturday, August 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pickled Loon Saloon in Emily. The family-friendly event blends great food, live music, local vendors, raffles, and environmental education in a lively outdoor setting.

   A highlight of the day is the Pickled Loon’s famous all-you-can-eat sweet corn, served free to attendees. Also being served will be pork-on-a-stick, hot dogs and brats. More than 30 vendors are expected, and $1 hourly 50/50 raffles will be drawn throughout the event.

   Live music will stretch across two days, beginning Friday, August 14 at 4 p.m. with Gigfoot, a four-piece band playing covers of classic rock from the 1970s to now. They will be followed by a 7 p.m. performance from Sushi Roll, a Chicago cover band with rock-n-roll swagger and memorable stage costumes inspired by cosplay, anime and superheroes. 

   On Saturday, Gigfoot returns to the stage at 4 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. performance by Legacy of the Loud, a Twin Cities rock band covering history’s top selling artists such as Journey, AC/DC, Kiss and many more.

   Proceeds from the event support the Lakers Lions’ scholarship program.

   Also returning to this year’s event are several booths hosted by the Crooked Lake Township Lakes and Shores Committee, along with partners from the Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Army Corps of Engineers. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., their booths will once again offer environmental education, youth activities, and the popular “Get The Lead Out” competition – an effort to remove toxic lead fishing tackle from area lakes.

   Anyone bringing in at least 1.0 oz. of lead tackle will be eligible to win one of several prizes. The grand prize for most lead collected is a Minn Kota Endura Trolling Motor. Second place will receive an 18-hole round of golf for four at Emily Greens Golf Course. Additionally, everyone who turns in a minimum of 2.0 ounces of lead qualifies for general raffle prizes of $50.00 gift certificates donated by the Deer Haven on Thunder, Pickled Loon Saloon, Red Pine Cookhouse and the Village Inn.

   Alongside the lead tackle contest, kids can create their own custom t-shirts and pick up gift bags from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, filled with whistles, stickers, sunglasses, magnets and more. Adults can stop by to learn about water safety, aquatic invasive species (AIS) prevention, and the work being done by local lake associations RALALA (Roosevelt and Lawrence Area Lakes Association) and LWA (Lake Washburn Association).

   Whether you’re coming for the corn, the music, or to help protect our lakes, the Corn Feed is a great way to enjoy the day with your neighbors.
