   Grab your family, friends and a spot along Main Street: it’s time once again for one of Remer’s favorite summer traditions. The 78th Annual Remer Harvest Festival returns Friday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 8, with this year’s theme, “Exploring Outer Space.”

   From the annual parade and flea market to live music, food and family activities, the two-day celebration offers something for every age while showcasing the community spirit that has made Harvest Festival a longtime tradition.

   The festivities begin Friday with the all-day flea market at Bigfoot Gas & Gifts. Community members can enjoy the Goodwill Community Dinner BBQ from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Depot Pavilion before taking in a performance of “Sir Valourant & the Dragon” by the Grand Rapids Players at 7 p.m. at the Depot.

   Saturday’s schedule is packed with activities from morning through evening. The day begins with the return of the all-day flea market, while the Pancake Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the pavilion. The Farmer’s Market also opens at 8:30 a.m. near the bank, and the annual “Singles” Trap Shoot gets underway at 9 a.m. at the trap range.

Families can enjoy kids’ games from 10 a.m. to noon at Harvest Church before attention turns to one of the festival’s biggest attractions. Parade participants will begin lining up at 11:30 a.m. in the school parking lot, with the Kiddie Parade and Main Parade stepping off at 1 p.m. through downtown Remer.

   The fun continues into the afternoon with Bingo at the pavilion beginning at 3 p.m. Live music by Lady and the Tramp will entertain attendees from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Remer Muni, while Gigfoot will take the stage at Mill Street Tavern from 5 to 9 p.m., providing plenty of opportunities to wrap up the celebration with great music and good company.

   Whether you’re hunting for treasures at the flea market, enjoying a hearty breakfast, cheering on the parade, or spending the evening listening to live music, the 78th Annual Remer Harvest Festival promises another memorable weekend celebrating the community and the traditions that have brought people together for nearly eight decades.

   Locals and visitors alike are invited to come out, enjoy the festivities, and help make this year’s “Exploring Outer Space” Harvest Festival another successful celebration in the heart of Remer.
