Everyone is invited to take part in two free events coming up at the Hunt Utilities Group Resilient Living Campus in August. From 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 6 there will be an open house hosted by Happy Dancing Turtle and Hunt Utilities Group/HUG Hydronics, two organizations based on the HUG Resilient Living Campus in Pine River. Tour the campus which features sustainable building techniques, outdoor classrooms, demonstration garden, and more. Visit with staff from both organizations and enjoy light refreshments.
“This is an opportunity to see what we do first-hand and we’ll even have a family friendly scavenger hunt. We love this work and look forward to sharing it with you,” said Happy Dancing Turtle Executive Director Quinn Swanson.

The east end of campus is home to the Mani (Manifesting) Shop, a 13,000 sq. ft. building that hosts HUG Hydronics. Take part in a tour of the building process, see a hands-on demonstration of the hydronics systems. Hunt Utilities Group President, Ryan Hunt, commented “Having folks see our research campus and ask questions is one of my favorite parts of my job. From the gardens to the buildings to the art to the provocatively clever engineering, I beam with pride and we’re eager to show it off.”
In addition, Happy Dancing Turtle will host an Open Garden event from 1-4 p.m. on Thursday, August 20. Happy Dancing Turtle offers environmental and resilient-living education and events for kids and adults. See how the garden, filled with seasonal beauty, promotes soil health and sustainable practices.
