   The Union Congregational Church is continuing its commitment of hosting monthly benefit meals and bringing the community together for a good cause. These free-will offerings support a variety of nonprofit organizations serving the Hackensack area.  The upcoming event will help support the Family Safety Network (FSN), a vital organization dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence and their families since 1993.

   Through advocacy, support, and referral services, FSN plays a crucial role in addressing domestic violence across the region. On any given day in Minnesota, 1,975 adults and children experience domestic  violence, with nearly half, 7.7% occurring in rural communities. In 2025 alone, FSN delivered 13,133 services to residents in Cass, Hubbard, and Clearwater counties. Their work has supported 703 families, including 60 individuals facing homelessness and 151 in need of emergency shelter. Additionally, 516 victims and their children received emergency financial assistance.

   One of the most pressing needs identified by FSN has been the lack of a physical domestic violence shelter in their service area. In response, the organization developed an innovative Hotel/Motel Voucher Shelter System. This program provides immediate emergency housing during times of crisis while allowing FSN staff to create personalized advocacy plans that help families achieve long-term housing stability and break the cycle of abuse.

   The upcoming fundraiser offers not only an opportunity to support this important mission but also to enjoy a hearty meal. The menu features a full Taco Bar, Spanish Rice and homemade desserts prepared by Tammy Lindberg. 

   The dinner will take place at Union Congregational Church, located at 401 Lake Avenue in Hackensack, on Wednesday, May 6, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Community members are encouraged to bring friends and family for an evening of food, fellowship, and meaningful impact.
