Natural gas line damaged in Walker
Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk and Walker Police Department Chief Peter Anderley report that on April 15th 2026 at 1:58 PM the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a utility company working in the City of Walker near Michigan Ave W and Seventh Street S struck a 3” natural gas line. Responders responded to the area and evacuations of the immediate area were initiated including businesses and residents. Repairs to the line are underway.
Assisting at the scene was the Walker Police Department, Walker Fire Department, and
Walker Public Works.
UPDATE
Officials on scene report that damaged natural gas line has been mitigated and that the area that was evacuated is now back open. Residents are being allowed to return, and business will either open this evening or tomorrow. Contractors will continue to work on site this evening and tomorrow (4-16-2026) but impact should be minimal. For questions about your natural gas service please contact your service provider.
