Salem Lutheran Church to Host First-Ever Shred Day Event
Salem Lutheran Church in Longville will host its first-ever Shred Day event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 1, in the church parking lot.
The event will feature Paper Storm’s state-of-the-art mobile shredding truck, offering community members a secure and convenient way to dispose of old paper records and sensitive documents. Participants are welcome to watch as their materials are safely shredded on-site.
To help ensure a smooth and efficient process, organizers are planning the event as a drive-up service. Visitors will be able to pull up directly to the shredding truck, where staff will unload materials into secure bins before the vehicle moves along. This format is designed to reduce congestion and make the event more accessible, particularly for those with heavy boxes or limited mobility.
Participants are asked to bring their documents in boxes, bags, or containers, but must take those containers with them after their materials have been unloaded. Free will donations for this event are appreciated.
A wide variety of paper materials will be accepted, including items with staples, paper clips, rubber bands, and most other fasteners. Acceptable materials also include manila folders, checkbooks and registers, envelopes with plastic windows, books, manuals, and pliable soft metals such as spiral notebook bindings.
However, some items cannot be accepted, including black file clips, three-ring binders, floppy disks, CDs, and “poly-coated” materials such as plastic-coated menus.
Anyone unsure whether an item can be shredded is encouraged to keep it separate and ask Paper Storm staff upon arrival.
