April 21, 1926
Elmer E. Lamb was a Walker visitor on Tuesday. For a number of years, he was an employee at the State Sanitorium, but at present conducts a general store at Federal Dam.
George Patten, Jr. who operates a boat livery at Federal Dam, was over to Walker to look at Gus Kuhlander’s boats, the Way-Weep and Noah’s Ark, which are for sale.
Fred Anderson is building an addition to his store at Federal Dam so he can handle all kinds of fresh meats.

School was resumed in Longville after a three week mud vacation.
Ronny Olson is spending a few days with the Fairbanks out at Sugar Point. Edwin Brown went to Fort Snelling to take his physical for the Army.
The Eager Beaver 4-H Club met at the Sonstegard home at Brevik last Saturday.

April 16, 1976
Olaf Johnson died April 3, at age 82. He was a longtime resident of Boy River and operated the General Store in Boy River for many years.
Mrs. Florence Helselman, who has been a resident of Ten Mile Lake for many years, has sold her home and moved to Walker.
Staff Sergeant Ross Averbeck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Averbeck of Longville, has been assigned to Lakenheath RAF Station, England, for duty with a unit of the US Air Forces in Europe.

Darwin Myers, age 70, died April 6th. He was born March 25, 1931, to Sidney and Mildred Myers. A graduate of Remer High school, he joined the Air Force during the Korean War. He married Esther Wheeler on July 3, 1955, in Remer. After his service, he worked with Reserve Mining until retirement in 1986.
Laurence Nelson died April 6th. He was born September 1, 1917, to Ole Nelson and Marie Gustafson. He married Iris Annette Bodenhofer in Hackensack on February 21, 1937, and worked on farms in southern Minnesota until 1941 when they moved back to Hackensack. He served in the army in Germany. He was an Army recruiter in Brainerd and Grand Forks. In 1968 he retired from the Army and had a ranch in California. He also worked with the Boy Scout and Explorer programs.
