  Phyllis “Pat” Meissner, 93, of Backus, MN, passed away on October 14, 2025. She was born in Chicago, IL, and later moved to the Backus area. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was active in the Backus American Legion Auxiliary. Pat served as a Sunday school teacher and, for 15 years, as a foster grandparent in the Pine River/Backus schools, where she was known as “Grandma Pat”.

   Pat is survived by her children, Linda McNamara (Harold Chitwood), Jeanette Wolmutt, Carol Vredenberg (Neil), and Jeff Meissner; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; son, Mike; and her siblings.

   A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Backus, MN. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service.

   Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Pine River.
