Deep Portage Learning Center is a non-profit organization that provides environmental education and outdoor recreation for students across Minnesota and beyond. This Learning Center is open to the public year round and offers 11 miles of skiing/hiking trails and various outdoor recreation opportunities. Learners of all ages can explore the woods, water and wildlife to celebrate our natural world. The Longville Area Community Foundation is pleased to support Deep Portage with a $1,000 grant to help create the new “Mindfulness Trail.” The trail will include interpretive signs strategically placed along the trail to invite users to engage in healthy activities such as mindful observations, attentive listening to sounds of the environment, and deep breathing exercises. Sign language placards will provide opportunities to help individuals of all backgrounds and abilities connect with nature. Presenting the grant check are Traci Pederson, Board member (L) and Kathy Dollins, LACF President (R). Accepting for Deep Portage is Neal Tacheny, Assistant Director. Photo submitted.
