Longville community–we pulled together

By By Beth Tobiason | Comments: 0 | Leave a comment

On Saturday, April 26, community individuals gathered to help make the Stuart Memorial Park playground on step closer to being a reality. These individuals were lead by Jocko Kline, and removed half of the shredded tire in the playground to make room for the new equipment and ground cover and completed on April 30. It was hard work but as a community we did it by pulling together. The Longville Park and Recreation committee does not know how to thank all the hands that made this possible. This is what is wonderful about a small community when they pull together, dreams do come true. We have been confirmed to have the installation team start the project on the day after Memorial and the ground cover the following week.

The Park and Recreation Committee would also like to thank Arrowhead Hardware for the donation of water, The One Stop for pizzas, Lakes and Pines Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association for the donation of pop, The Turtle Town Cafe for support and ice, The Docksider for pizzas and Tabaka’s Supermarket for the discount on supplies but the heroes of the day are the dedicated volunteers that shared their time and muscle to prepare the site for the playground project.

The Park and Recreation Committee would also like to warn the community the park is closed due to the lack of safety surface but if you and your children still would like to use the equipment know you need to do it at your own risk. There are also piles of shredded tire on site and we ask for your help to keep everyone off these for safety reasons.
