Hwy. 371 construction in Hackensack begins May 5
Bemidji, Minn. – Highway 371 motorists may experience daily lane closures beginning on May 5 in Hackensack while crews begin construction, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
A safer road, smoother surface, and better pedestrian access are coming to Highway 371 in Hackensack as reconstruction begins this week. The project includes a new roundabout at Cass County Road 5, paving, utility upgrades, curbs and gutters and drainage improvements. Daily lane closures start immediately, with a truck detour via County Roads 5 and 45 beginning May 12. Work is expected to continue through mid-October, weather permitting. Photo submitted.
This urban reconstruction project includes constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 371 and Cass County Road 5. Project elements also include reconstructing and paving Highway 371, sidewalk upgrades, utility improvements and replacing a box culvert near Barthelemy Avenue.
Motorists can expect delays through town. Beginning May 12, a detour will be in place for trucks using Cass County roads 5 and 45. Check www.511mn.org for the latest information.
Once finished, this stretch of Highway 371 in Hackensack will include a safer road, safer intersections, longer lasting driving surface, improved drainage and pedestrian accessibility. It is expected to be complete mid-October, weather permitting.
