   Sheriff Bryan Welk reports that the victims have been identified in the fatal crash as follows;

   • Driver of the 2009 KIA identified as Vilayvieng Khamvongsa, age 61, of Walker, MN (deceased)

   • Driver of the 2013 Dodge identified as Jennifer Burton, age 55, of Menahga, MN (deceased)

   • Passengers of the 2013 Dodge identified as Kristopher Fisher, age 46, of Walker, MN (injured) and Tiffanni Haugen, age 31, of Detroit Lakes, MN (injured)

   Sheriff Bryan Welk reports that on Thursday May 29th 2025, at 9:19 p.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a two-vehicle crash with injuries on County Road 13 (Onigum Road) north of County Road 153 in Turtle Lake Township. Deputies and responders arrived on scene and found two vehicles were involved in a serious head-on collision. A 61-year-old male of Walker, MN, the driver and sole occupant of a 2009 KIA Sportage, was pronounced deceased on scene. A 55-year-old female of Menahga, MN, the driver of a 2013 Dodge Avenger, was also pronounced deceased on scene. Additionally, passengers in the Dodge ¬—¬¬ a 46-year-old male and a 31-year-old female, both of Walker, MN — were treated on scene and transported via helicopters to regional hospitals for serious injuries. Autopsies are scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the Minnesota State Patrol. 

   Assisting at the crash scene was the Minnesota State Patrol, Walker Police Department, Walker Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.
