Summer programming underway at the Longville Library
The Longville Library would like to invite kids and teens to register at the library to participate in the 2025 Level Up at Your Library summer reading program. Summer reading programs at the library encourage kids and teens to read their choice of books throughout the summer while earning prizes in the process. This program runs through July 26th; the library allows participants the following week to turn in their reading logs. Stop in the library to register, pick up a reading log and ask the librarians about other special activities such as the Level Up Your Learning with cool facts from library books activity book. All the details for these programs can be found at the library. Drawings will be held at the completion of the program! Kids that finish their reading challenge can enter the grand prize drawing package and those that exceed the level up activity goal will be eligible for a drawing for 3 fun items to be given away! Come into the library & view the prizes!
Storytime is Thursday mornings at 10:30. Story and snack provided for preschoolers – Kindergarten age kids accompanied by an adult (6/5/25-7/31/25).
Craft Time: a time of crafting for kids each Friday. Kids accompanied by an adult may visit the library between the hours of 1:30-3 p.m. to participate in making a craft of their very own to take home with them (6/6/25-8/1/25).
Sparkle Theatre (Fri. 6/13, 2-3 p.m.): Kids and families please join us for this fun and fast-paced Legacy* workshop. Sparkle theatre will show you how to make art out of everyday things as well as our bodies, voices and imaginations. Participants will make rhythms and work together to create a mini performance.
Health Learning Series with Dr. Beth (Tues 6/17, 12-2 p.m.): Join Beth M. Ley Knotts, Phd for an informative & educational health seminar. Learn about your immune system and how what we eat affects our health. Dr. Beth is an author of dozens of health related books, wrote her own undergraduate degree program, graduated in scientific and technical writing and she has her master’s and doctoral degrees in nutrition. This program includes a free lunch featuring nutritious chili with wholesome ingredients to demonstrate and educate attendees on nutritional cooking. Kids – paint your own book bag with local artist Christine Davidge – Fri 6/20, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Join us for this fun kid’s workshop as Christine guides kids to paint their own creative book bag specially designed by Christine Davidge specifically for this workshop featuring a local themed turtle nature scene. Please register for this free Legacy* program by calling the library.
Earring making class will be held Sat, 6/21, 10:30-1:30 p.m. Haci Stumbo returns to the library for another new creative workshop. This time she is bringing her talents and skills to guide participants to make beautiful earrings. All the tools will be provided for each participant to make and go home with 5 new sets of earrings. Please register for this free Legacy* program with limited space.

If you haven’t had an opportunity to visit the library in a while or maybe you are new to the library, this would be a great time to either get reacquainted with library services and programs or establish a new account to enjoy the privileges of library services. While here, you can enjoy the library addition & locally built furnishings made by Danny and Caleb Yochum, including new bookshelves, desks and study pods all made from pine (featuring a painted birch tree scene designed & painted by Tom Kutschied). The addition includes a very comfortable new meeting / program room that is available during library hours. The Longville Library offers many great resources. Come see our new large print area in the new addition on beautiful pine shelves. We have great hobby books for adults as well as the latest fiction by top selling authors. Our children’s section has a variety of picture books, chapter books, early readers and terrific non fiction books about birds, animals, flowers, sports, crafts and much, much more. Be sure to stop by our dvd and audiobook section for items that are available to check out on your library card. It’s a great place for moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas to spend quality time with the kids this summer. The library also offers a life jacket program with baby and children’s size lifejackets available for a one week check out. Access wifi, use public computers, printers, fax, scanner, hotspots and much more!
