June 11, 1925
Three businesses in Remer were destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning. It seemed the fire started between the Egan Hardware and the Joyce Meat Market and Grocery. The Chris Hoeppner Restaurant was also destroyed.
Christen Kragtorp of Inguadona is working at Cooper’s on Trelipe Lake.
A number of our young folks from Longville attended the dance at Seni-om-sed Saturday evening.
75 Years Ago
June 8, 1950
Benjamin Glenn Swankier, 23 and Elizabeth Lucille Andrews, 19 of Remer applied for a marriage license.
Cass County’s first drowning this year occurred when Charles Shumilla, 42, fell from the launch in which he was fishing in Leech Lake where the Leech River runs out.
Betty Lou Preble began working at Willow Beach resort and Arlene Countrymen is working at Cabin Camp resort for the summer.

June 12, 1975
Richard Tabaka of Longville and Sara Thomas of St. Cloud announce their engagement. They will be married September 20th at St. Cloud.
The June meeting of the Woman Lake Book and Thimble Club was held at Schoolcraft State Park on the banks of the Mississippi where the Schoolcraft expedition camped on July 8, 1832, in their search for the headwaters of the Mississippi at Lake Itasca.
Navy Fireman Apprentice Randy Wheeler, son of the Lionel Wheelers of Remer completed a 6-month deployment aboard a guided missile frigate USS Coontz.

The old Doad’s Grocery in Hackensack has been divided into three units and has become home to the Birch Lake Beanery, the second unit to Leech Lake Realty, and the third awaits a tenant.
Remer Fireman’s Day is July 1 and is offering a turkey barbeque, flea market, petting zoo, children’s games, face painting, and music by the “Still Missing” band.
Deborah Dollins of Longville and Amber VanderHeyden of Outing have been awarded scholarships to the College of St. Scholastica.
